NRA Ad’s logic applied to adults: President Obama has Secret Service protection? Then ALL Americans should have such protection. (Pretzels, anyone?)
The NRA has run this ad in the apparent hope that sufficient numbers of Americans are terminally stupid and will actually find this overlay of misinformation and illogic convincing. See what you think:

But Jon sufficient numbers of Americans ARE terminally stupid. But I digress…
Oh, stop tempting me to be a cynic!
Jon,
This is the stupidest thing ever to come out of the tip of your pen. The 2nd amendment applies to all. If Mr Obama can have Secret Service protection (men armed with guns), should American’s be denied the right to protect themselves, with a gun?
You say yes for Obama and no for everyone else.
You drank the Kool Aid, my brother.
A typical far-right-wing tactic is to raise an issue no one else has raised, and then attack that issue with gusto. You’ve done that here with your suggestion that “If Mr. Obama can have Secret Service protection (men armed with guns), should American’s [sic] be denied the right to protect themselves, with a gun?” No one has said Americans cannot own or (if they choose) “protect themselves” with a gun. But if you think every American is entitled to the same level of protection the President has, you’re obviously off the path of logic and reality. The post you’re responding to is mainly FROM the NRA itself… all I did was invite people to view that NRA ad and draw their own conclusions. I’ve certainly drawn mine.
Got a better, more cheerful suggestion for the NRA – if the President of the United States has access to guaranteed, government-sponsored healthcare, then shouldn’t ALL American citizens be entitled to the same?
